NEOHIRST

I'm a bit lost in translation again - in this artwork i try to combine a famous Damien Hirst's artwork with a famous Albert Camus' essay 'The Myth of Sisyphus', in particular with it's chapter 'Absurd creativity'. And at Nikacheart.ru I quote the exact part that was used in the painting. But I failed to find this very chapter in English translations of the same book - I found several versions of it in the web and all of them miss this very bit. There are two ways - either English-speaking readers are deprived of the best part of Camus' book or I'm just not the best googler)) Anyway, it's a great pity because noone hasn't described the absurd phenomenon in art better then Camus did...

This bag was influenced by both the artwork of Hirst itself and that piece I've made before. I think Hirts is among those artists whos artworks can be strongly reconsidered with the help of text. The phrase, written in the dots - 'Postmodernizm - even though this word is wild it still is a feast for my ear'. I found this phrase written on the wall in one Moscow building and immidiately fell in love with it!

Postmodernism in cube - a plastic bag with the imprint of paints used for the bag that was made as a addition to the painting NEOHIRST that was ment to be a visualisation of my thoughts about absurd creativity.

for already several months practically every day i get calls from indefinite number on my mobile... it's always silent when i pick up the phone. no idea who is that, but it's definately very annoying)

2ND MOSCOW INTERNATIONAL BIENNALE FOR YOUNG ART

i'm now working in the organizing team of the II moscow international biennale for young art "qui vive", which was opened on the 1st of july. over 600 artists from russia and 52 other countries ranging in it's scope from japan to mexico and canada were selected to be presented in moscow in july 2010 in 60 separate shows at 38 of moscow's leading exhibition venues, museums, galleries and contemporary art centers. here are several photos from the first openings, all the rest you can find in my russian blog.

DARK SIDES OF RUSSIA

i love russia with all my heart, but in the shpere of law it's absolutely wild country! i had a court today according to the salary debt, that my ex-place of work owe me, and it was the worst experience in my life. i've came at appointed time sharp, but they made me wait 2 hours in front of the door, and after that i was invited just to be told that the judge is too busy to examine my case and made me next appoinment in a month!! and this was not just simple conversation, judge was very rude with me and didn't miss the opportunity to humiliate me. so i am sure there is no hope to return my money, but what upsets me more is that i can never feel safe here because if anything happens to me in this country there is no law i can rely on and that can protect me.

NATURE EXPERIENCE

it is so so hot in moscow, that i've decided to leave my favorite big city and spend at least one weekend in the countryside. unfortunately i could barely stand such close contact with nature and was ready to run away after several hours we arrived :) i failed in the fight with insects and was bited by everyone!)))
