ART&FEAR

Just finished reading a curious book by David Bayles and Ted Orland - 'Art and fear'. In Russian the second part of it's title was translated as 'A guide of survival for contemporary artists'. And it is really inspiring to hear, how similar the problems of arty people are - lack of confidence in yourself and your art, fear to fail, lack of support and understanding from others etc. As for me, I still feel very strange about being an artist - I know it's the only thing I can do and that I was ment to do, but the society I live in doesn't accept it well.. People consider me weird because I can't work in the office as they do, and because I see things in the other way they see, and have emotions different from theirs. In Russia it's still very unusual to do smth outstanding from things that are considered to be normal. Of course there many arty people who do what they love and succeed, but still the majority of people think very old-fashioned and too traditional and it's impossible to persuade them that life have changed and they don't have to do what they hate any longer, and that everyone can do whatever he wants and noone has a right to judge. Anyway, the book is really nice and helpful, I enjoyed it even though it took me only one hour to read it all))

BACK HOME

Just came back home from St. Petersburg. All my free from the art time I spent in bakeries - there are heaps of them there and all are sooo nice! If you have never been to St.Petersburg pack you bags and go immidiately - it's the most amazing place in Russia! Piter, I love you :)

ELECTIONS

Yesterday in Russia we had elections. I found in blogs several photos by Reuters of how it was in far small towns. Looks a bit wild :))

DARK SIDES OF RUSSIA

i love russia with all my heart, but in the shpere of law it's absolutely wild country! i had a court today according to the salary debt, that my ex-place of work owe me, and it was the worst experience in my life. i've came at appointed time sharp, but they made me wait 2 hours in front of the door, and after that i was invited just to be told that the judge is too busy to examine my case and made me next appoinment in a month!! and this was not just simple conversation, judge was very rude with me and didn't miss the opportunity to humiliate me. so i am sure there is no hope to return my money, but what upsets me more is that i can never feel safe here because if anything happens to me in this country there is no law i can rely on and that can protect me.

peter nalitch is the best singer ever, i don't expect him to win the eurovision 2010 because good songs rarely win there, all i know is that he is the best))

THE BEST OF RUSSIA

just for you to know - the president of russia at the moment is not mr putin as some of my aussie friends suppose) it's mr medvedev, and it turned out that he is keen on art! on these photos dmitry medvedev and sofia trocenko, the hear of the russian art center winzavod, are examining the artworks of the best of russia photo exhibition.
